The Need for Verification

Posted on Wednesday, April 1st, 2009 in News

Sorry if I haven’t answered emails, etc but I have been off sick for two days and come back to a national network problem. These things happen.

I have received some emails and comments have been posted both here and in the Forum regarding verification for AlertPay. Even if you have used AlertPay successfully to make donations, we will still ask you to go through the Verification process. It takes five minutes out of you life and it’s free!

What that process does is to create a “callback” between AlertPay and ourselves so that, when you make a payment, we are informed immediately and we can update your Rating and Ad Credits there and then. There is no need for confirmation emails. :-)

According to the AlertPay blog, they expect to be in a position to make an announcement next week - I will not do anything more about this until I have seen the announcement.

Whilst on the subject of confirmations, every Birthday Request goes out with the request that you “forward the AlertPay confirmation email to bdconfirm@birthdaybonusclub.com” - a fairly simple request which requires clicking one button and entering the email address. However, it creates our single largest workload - here’s what we get :

  • “I’ve Paid” - (no confirmation) - this has to be the dumbest of confirmations! It gets ignored!
  • “join my super duper make a million MLM scheme” - bdconfirm is a script! It runs every 30 minutes, I don’t pay it anything and it it is not in a position to sign up - you are wasting your time and mine!
  • Cut ‘n Paste part of the email - AlertPay send two forms of confirmation - one for transfers and one for card payments. The script is capable of “recognising” both and will extract the information it needs - which 90% of the time are not in the cut ‘n paste version.
  • Word documents and Excel spreadsheets - bdconfirm is a Linux script and does not recognise either!

As you can see, the whole confirmation process is loaded with problems! So - a small effort on your part will do two things :

  1. You benefit as you get your Rating updates an Ad Credits immediately
  2. I benefit as I don’t have to spend half my time going through “confirmation” emails manually

I have tried to pay a birthday request and get the following message when I click pay now from pay alert “We’re sorry, this seller’s account does not permit selling online.Account upgrade is required.”

I am sure other people got this message - what does this mean? will I hope don’t have the same problem when my birthday request out

    Hi Desmond

It simply means that the member in question has a Personal account rather than a Personal Pro account and cannot accept payments by credit card. We remind people one week before their Birthdays about this but some just don’t listen :-(

    Hi Tom,

by verification you mean getting the Alertpay account verified?
Well, I’ve spent hours (for the last 6 months or more) on it and haven’t succeeded. Namely, my photo ID got accepted without any problems, but each of my bills etc - the proof of address - is rejected, saying it appears as a screenshot of a website. While it isn’t actually - those are the actual bills I receive. So I gave up. I even had to downgrade my other Alertpay account from business to personal pro because of this - as business accounts required verification for any kind of transaction. So I’m not sure what to do to get the account verified. But - since they don’t process credit cards for months and I can’t therefore use it for payments anyway - it shouldn’t be that big of a deal.
I’ve used Moneybookers for years, so I consider it to be a really good alternative.

    Greetings from Estonia,
    Margot-Helena

    Hi Margot- Helena,

I verified my AP account through the post - lol - yes there’s still a place for snail mail in the world!

I just photocopied my passport’s main page along with a bank statement (deleting my account numbers of course) - and the verification only took just over a week! That’s posting UK to Canada.

So if anyone still wants to use AP, and is having a problem, posting verification is a reasonable alternative.

    Cheers

Just a point on verification/confirmation. I already paid my three(3) uplines and also sent in the confirmation of the payment, but my members area regarding these uplines says “pending”.
    What does this mean?

Donald was paid for Bday Bonus club. I sent an attached copy of the email. The last three I did said they are pending? Well. I never received an email to say one way or another.

After reading through this article, I feel that I need more information on the topic. Could you share some more resources ?

Wow, I’m feeling pretty stupid here. I don’t understand what you mean by verified. I’m verified with AlertPay but I had to send the confirmation for my two birthday payments. Is there some other verification process that creates this *callback* between you and AlertPay? I’m really confused about that.

Also, I have just the basic AlertPay account, simply because I desperately need every penny and can’t afford to pay fees there yet. I didn’t think they could process credit card payments right now so I wasn’t worried about it. Plus I only have 3 refs and they don’t have any, so there are only 4 people to pay me, right? I have no problem waiting for them to put money in their AlertPay accounts, which is what I had to do for the payments I made. I’m asking because my birthday is Tuesday and I’m writing this Sunday night. I did write and ask about this but haven’t received a reply yet.

    Hi Everyone,

As for the verifications, I feel if payment requests have been fulfilled then that should count as your verification. If you haven’t received any requests maybe we could just send $1 into Birthday Bonus Club - I don’t think $1 will break anyone & that should suffice as verification in my books.
